Training courses and workshops

What we do within our organisations, we do as well as we can think of and do. What will we do when we find out that we cannot do something well enough in changing times with changing demands.

Training courses and workshops

What we do within our organisations, we do as well as we can think of and do. What will we do when we find out that we cannot do something well enough in changing times with changing demands.

Trainings and workshops

My goal is to make as many people as possible more knowledgeable about data management, so that they will begin to see the opportunities in their work and in their organization to set up data management so that data can bring more value to the organization.

I focus on the entire organization and want to ensure that knowledge reaches the right places, so that you can determine the best direction. I distinguish 3 main groups that need to be fluent in data and data management:

1. The data value chain, including the data management function, who should at least know the data management foundation according to the DMBoK.

2. Senior management who need to know enough about data to be able to manage. Often the importance of data to the organization is insufficiently recognized at this level, while day-to-day and strategic management decisions are being made that affect how well data can be used to achieve organizational goals.

3. Data users, closely involved in the execution of business processes, work with production, services, customers and value creation. The focus is not on data, but data plays an important role and the visibility of data needs to be greater so that it can be properly taken care of from the beginning of data.

Data Value Chain

I focus on people from the DATA VALUE CHAIN. These are people who already deal with data, such as a CDO, CIO, data officer, data steward, data architect, data modeler, data scientist, data engineer, BI developer, etc. These people, with focused knowledge according to the DAMA DMBoK, can start to see the coherence in data in a short time, give the people and organization aspects a place and certainly start to see process improvements in the organization. They will also be able to assess opportunities and possibilities in the area of control (data governance). For these people, I have the DAMA DMBoK CDMP Training as a foundation and common language, covering all aspects of data management.

Senior Management

There is also the leadership, HIGHER MANAGEMENT, department heads who need to know more about data and especially data management. Above all, they need to understand that data also needs care, that data can have tremendous value, but also carries risks. How do you give data the role it needs in the organization and how do you make it an explicit and concrete part of the strategy? For management, I have trainings to increase data awareness and workshops to concretely get to work with what the organization is concerned about in the field of data and together make concrete plans and approaches to make improvements. Your organization, your cases, your solutions, together under my guidance.

Data users

DATA USERS must leverage data to perform their roles well. They deal with policy, with management of products and services, and need more insight to know what is going well and not so well and what needs focused attention. So they need to be able to translate their question or challenge into data and data products (such as dashboards, but also data sets that are inetereteresting to others). These data users are in operations, in policy positions to ensure that the organization is doing the right things at the operational and tactical levels.

The Data Management Fundamentals: DAMA DMBoK

For data management, I have an excellent training course that covers the full breadth of data management according to DAMA DMBoK. This training is ideally suited for anyone close to or in the data management organization, from data steward, data manager, data officer to Chief Data Officer.

We will cover all topics of the DAMA DMBoK, such as data governance, data quality, data architecture, metadata, data warehousing, BI, data science, master data, data modeling, data integration. I also discuss some overarching concepts to make sense of the connection between data, organization, the Enterprise architecture and policy.

At the end of the training you will be able to apply consistent data management practices in your work and have the ability to take the esteemed DAMA CDMP Fundamentals exam.

I teach this training in several variations:

  1. 1-Day Open Enrollment DAMA CDMP Training – for those who are self-studying but would like an overview of the DMBoK and tips and training for the CDMP Exam;
  2. 2-day In-company DAMA CDMP Training – for organizations that are already doing data management themselves, but want to cover the full breadth and have their employees pass the CDMP Exam. Think BI Developers who want to know more, Data Officers who want to take the exam and see the consistency;
  3. 3-day In-company Online DAMA CDMP Training – for organizations that want an experienced trainer, want to take the training worldwide (or not specifically in the Netherlands), experience data management with each other and take the CDMP Exam;
  4. 4-Day In-company and Open Enrollment DAMA DMBoK CDMP Training – for those who want to see more examples, bring forward their own cases, engage in discussion with peers and discuss change management and organizational aspects in addition to the chapters for the CDMP Exam.

Options in Training and Workshops

The path to getting more value from data and reducing risk starts with becoming aware of it and skilled at it. A good way to do this is to train many people in your organization. They don’t all need the same training:

  1. Data Value Chain: the multi-day DAMA DMBoK CDMP training goes deep and broad and is ideally suited to give these people the baggage to immediately deal better with data in their projects and activities;
  2. Senior Management: with Case-based Workshops, we will see what challenges your organization has and how we can take steps and move in the right direction there with good data management and data use;
  3. Data Users: with Data Translator and other workshops we make practical what data-driven means for your organization with examples and assignments.

The DAMA DMBoK CDMP training is a standard training in different variants in terms of duration. The other training courses are based on customer use cases and contain, in addition to standard material, specific material for you as a customer, your own cases.

Tailoring trainings and workshop is the key to transfer knowledge in an interesting and efficient way, where the participants participate from their own experience and the results are hugely relevant to their daily work. I use all my knowledge and experience to train your people. I share my enthusiasm for data and do my utmost to provide the spark.

The vision

The vision behind these training sessions and workshops is that if you want to move forward as an organisation, you have to go down this road with your own people to do so. I teach your people what data management is, how they can give it practical shape and can continue to guide the organisation throughout the journey.

People need to get moving and that works best if the motivation is there, if there is communication, if knowledge is readily available.

It’s about:

Do It Yourself

Own people who know the organisation like no other, I can teach the craft of data management.

Continuous learning

Always one step ahead and a new challenge presenting itself.

Learning Together

Learning and working together vertically and horizontally throughout the organisation, from data governance to data quality, from operational issues to advanced data analytics.
